FACTS AND TRAINING STANDARDS
The SSI Level 1 Freediving course is an introduction to the purest form of diving. Here you will learn the proper breathing techniques, familiarize yourself with diaphragmatic breathing and take a deep breath like you never have before.In the SSI level 1 Freediving course you acquire proper skills and knowledge to partake in Freediving to depths of 20 meters in the most relaxed and safest manner possible. You will develop skills necessary to train your body to be more efficient with oxygen, gain better respiration and muscle flexibility and learn new skills to take your freediving to the next level.
When you become an SSI Level 1 freediver, you open the door to worldwide freediving opportunities. Learning to freedive with SSI is easier than you think. In this program, online training, pool/confined water sessions and open water dives are combined to help you become a confident and safe freediver in no time. Once certified, you can freedive with a buddy in open water up to a depth of 20 meters and explore a variety of stunning underwater ecosystems around the world.

What is involved?
The SSI Freediving Level 1 course consists of the following:
Knowledge development through independent study with the mySSI App. This is to be completed prior to the course day and the instructor will review any questions you have prior to the pool session.
A multiple-choice exam
Pool session to learn breathhold techniques as well as static and dynamic apnea, plus proper safety, buddying, and rescue procedures. Goal – dynamic apnea of at least 30 metres and arm-stroke only dynamic of 15 metres.
Open water sessions to practice constant weight freedives, plus proper buddy procedures. Goal – constant weight freedive between 10 and 20 metres.

One day of pool sessions that includes static apnea, dynamic apnea and rescue techniques
One day of open water dive sessions .
